Innovative hybrid transmissions based on Switched Reluctance Motors/Generators:

Modern hybrid transmissions have a number of advantages over traditional automatic and manual transmissions. They have better fuel efficiency than other types of transmissions, the engine can stay within its most efficient RPM range, allowing you to obtain high system efficiency and the best possible fuel economy. They also provide smoother start of movement than other types of transmissions and great acceleration, making them ideal for the vehicles.

We offer calculation, design and manufacture of various types of hybrid transmissions for modern vehicles. Optimization includes not only the design and manufacture of new electric motors, generators and gearboxes per customer’s specifications, but also the design and manufacture of new power electronics units to meet modern requirements.
Parallel Hybrid Transmissions
A parallel hybrid transmission is a powertrain in which an electric motor and an internal combustion engine are combined into one system, allowing them to work together or independently to drive the vehicle’s wheels. Typically the system is built on one engine/generator. A parallel hybrid transmission allows to increase the efficiency of the mechanical transmission and improve its torque characteristics.

Series Hybrid Transmissions
A series hybrid transmission is a powertrain in which there is no mechanical coupling between the internal combustion engine and the wheels of the vehicle. ICE functions as a prime mover for a generator which is electrically coupled with a traction drive (electric motor), while the motor in turn is mechanically coupled to the drive wheels. The quantity of electric traction motors is determined by the quantity of the driving wheels or axles of the vehicle; the system may have anywhere from one or two to four or more traction drives. Additionally, the system may include an energy storage device (a battery, a supercapacitor or an electromechanical device known as flywheel storage) which is connected to the DC bus. The battery stores recuperated energy and, working in parallel with the generator, allows for short-term increase of the system power (e.g. during acceleration of the vehicle).
Series-parallel (Power-Split) Transmissions
Series-parallel ( Power-Split ) Transmissions is a powertrain in which there is no mechanical coupling between the internal combustion engine and the drive wheels during the vehicle start of movement. At a certain speed of the vehicle, the internal combustion engine is connected to the wheels via an electromagnetic clutch. Once this happens, the electric motor and generator can be switched off, or — provided the battery is charged — the electric motor can assist the internal combustion engine. Options of using a planetary gearbox are also available. The series-parallel transmission allows for a greater range of efficient operation over a wider range of vehicle speeds.
